Job Description

Lead a thriving veterinary team as Medical Director in Meads, KY, with compensation up to $170,000. This is a chance to guide clinical standards, mentor a dedicated team, and practice high-quality medicine in a well-equipped, supportive hospital.

The Hospital
This full-service, community-focused hospital delivers comprehensive care across wellness, preventive medicine, dentistry, internal medicine, surgery, and select urgent/after-hours support. On-site capabilities include an in-house laboratory, digital radiography (including dental), ultrasound, dedicated dental and surgical suites, cold-laser therapy, and an on-site pharmacy. The Role
- Lead medical standards and clinical protocols to ensure consistently high-quality care
- Provide hands-on clinical work in general practice, including wellness, diagnostics, dentistry, internal medicine, and soft-tissue surgery
- Mentor and support veterinarians; foster a collaborative, learning-focused culture
- Oversee medical record quality, controlled substance compliance, and case follow-through
- Partner with hospital leadership on workflow, staffing, scheduling, and client service
- Guide inventory and equipment planning with attention to clinical value and ROI
- Engage in client communication, staff training, and community education
- Contribute to after-hours support or on-call coordination as needed
- Monitor key performance indicators and help implement improvements that elevate patient care and client experience

Requirements
- DVM or VMD from an accredited institution
- License to practice (or eligibility for licensure) in Kentucky
- DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain and maintain)
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- 3+ years of clinical experience strongly preferred, with proven competency in general medicine, dentistry, and soft-tissue surgery
- Leadership aptitude with strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills
- Commitment to compassionate, client-focused care and high medical standards
