Senior Project Manager – Commercial Construction

Location: Minneapolis, MN

A leading national commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join its Minneapolis team. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex, large-scale commercial projects across the Twin Cities market, working with a highly respected organization known for delivering technically challenging and high-profile developments.

The position is ideal for a construction leader who enjoys ownership of major projects from preconstruction through closeout and mentoring high-performing project teams.

The Opportunity

You will oversee multiple commercial construction projects or a single large-scale program, leading project teams through all phases of delivery including planning, budgeting, procurement, execution, and client engagement. The role involves working closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders across institutional and private-sector developments.

Typical project sectors include:

• Corporate office
• Healthcare and medical facilities
• Higher education
• Mixed-use developments
• Mission-critical and advanced commercial facilities
• Public and institutional buildings

Project values commonly range from $50M to $300M+

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across all phases of project delivery from preconstruction through completion
• Manage project budgets, schedules, procurement strategies, and risk mitigation plans
• Lead internal teams including Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents
• Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, consultants, and trade partners
• Drive subcontractor procurement strategy and contract negotiations
• Oversee cost forecasting and financial reporting performance
• Ensure safety, quality, and schedule objectives are achieved
• Support pursuit efforts including proposals and client presentations when required
• Mentor junior team members and support leadership development across the project team

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of experience in commercial construction project management
• Demonstrated success delivering large-scale commercial or institutional projects
• Experience managing projects valued at $50M+
• Strong understanding of construction delivery methods including:
• CMAR
• Design-build
• Lump sum
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary project teams
• Strong client-facing communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in complex delivery environments

Preferred:

• Experience with healthcare, higher education, or mission-critical facilities
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
• Experience working with national or large regional general contractors
