As a  Meat Cutter , you’ll prepare high-quality meat products according to established trim specifications and standards while ensuring freshness, presentation, and food safety. You’ll play an important role in keeping our meat cases stocked and appealing while providing fast, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable service to Price Chopper customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cut & Prepare Quality Meat Products

• Cut, trim, and prepare meat according to established specifications and guidelines.
• Safely operate knives, saws, cubers, grinders, and other approved Meat Department equipment.
• Follow established trim specifications to maintain product quality, consistency, and yield.
• Properly wrap, weigh, price, and label meat merchandise.
• Inspect products for quality and freshness before preparing them for sale.
• Follow established Meat Department procedures, case layouts, and product standards.
• Maintain appropriate product levels and help ensure the meat case is fresh, well-stocked, organized, and appealing to customers.

Deliver a Great Customer Experience

• Provide fast, friendly, helpful, and efficient customer service at all times.
• Create a welcoming experience by smiling, making eye contact, and thanking customers after fulfilling their requests.
• Assist customers with product selection and special meat-cutting requests.
• Answer customer questions about available cuts, products, and preparation options.
• Provide knowledgeable and courteous service while helping customers find products that meet their needs.

Maintain Quality, Freshness & Merchandising Standards

• Monitor meat products for quality, freshness, appearance, and proper rotation.
• Follow established case layouts and merchandising standards.
• Ensure products are properly wrapped, labeled, priced, and displayed.
• Maintain appropriate product availability to support customer needs and sales opportunities.
• Rotate products according to established procedures to maintain freshness and quality.
• Help control shrink by consistently following department policies, procedures, and proper product-handling practices.

Maintain Food Safety & Sanitation

• Follow all corporate, Federal, State, and local sanitation and food safety requirements.
• Follow proper sanitation, food-handling, and temperature-control guidelines.
• Maintain a neat, clean, safe, and organized workstation according to 5S standards.
• Properly clean and sanitize knives, cutting equipment, work surfaces, and other Meat Department equipment.
• Follow company safety procedures when operating meat-cutting equipment and handling products.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment and safety equipment.
• Immediately address or report food safety, sanitation, equipment, or workplace safety concerns.

Receive & Handle Meat Products

• Receive meat products delivered to the store, including DSD and warehouse deliveries.
• Verify products are properly received and handled according to company procedures.
• Properly move and store products in designated refrigerated and freezer areas.
• Maintain proper product rotation when stocking and storing merchandise.
• Help maintain organized, clean, and safe coolers, freezers, storage areas, and workspaces.

Perform other related duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to pass a meat-cutting test.
• Satisfactory performance reviews.
• Strong communication skills.
• Basic literacy skills.
• Basic computer skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Satisfactory performance reviews.

• High School Degree or equivalent.
• 6–12 months of related experience.
