Malace HR is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead engineering operations at a manufacturing facility. This is a critical on-site leadership role responsible for managing the engineering team and ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all facility infrastructure and equipment that supports manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, people leadership skills, and a proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
Lead, manage, and develop the engineering team, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management
Oversee maintenance and repair of facility infrastructure and manufacturing equipment
Diagnose and resolve mechanical and pneumatic issues across machines and systems
Develop, implement, and maintain preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance programs
Manage the engineering budget and participate in the overall operating budget process
Assist in planning and executing capital improvement projects
Select, schedule, and oversee contractors, ensuring quality work and adherence to safety standards
Respond to emergencies, breakdowns, and service calls as required
Lead technical, safety, and operational training initiatives
Participate in client-facing communications and collaborate with the property and operations teams
Promote a strong culture of safety, reliability, and customer service
7+ years of related experience, preferably as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, or similar leadership role
Proven people management experience leading and developing a technical team
Universal CFC EPA Certification
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to climb and work on ladders up to 30 feet
Physical capability to perform frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving
Trade school education, union training, military service, or college degree
Experience in industrial maintenance or manufacturing environments
Working knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and water treatment
Familiarity with energy management and sustainability initiatives
Strong project management skills
